holy $#!+

I really need to better dedicate myself to daily/weekly blogging. I'll forget too much and end up with no record of it.

So...what have I been up to for the past...two months? Well, we did The Nerd for the school, and later for judges at the One-Act Play competition. We placed first in Sub-Region, winning awards for our set, and Jeremy (Rick Steadman) took home a Best Comedic Actor award. At Region, we didn't win, but we did take home three awards: Best Set, Best Featured Actor, and Best Actor. I was the Best Featured Actor! I was truly in shock when they announced my name. I've never expected to win any sort of acting awards until maybe my senior year (and then only at our Leo Banquet). This is definately a hilight of my high school acting career (if that's the right word).

So, now that we don't have to go on to State, we can start work on Evening With Santa. I'm really looking forward to it...as much as I look forward to all of my friends graduating. I saw the show last year. Perhaps with a better plot (the forgotten toys trying to find their proper home is so...done) the show could fare better. The kids seem to enjoy it, but I found myself laughing not with the actor and kids, but at the show itself. That sounds harsh, but they could at least extend it to a half-hour (last year's show clocked in at about twenty minutes; the evening is really the kids getting to sit on Santa's lap, see a really short..."show," and a free drink and snack.) Seven dollars...hope the parents liked it enough to bring the little dears back.

I seem so cynical. I am a cynic. I try not to be, but it's just become a part of me. Some people see it as sarcasm or attempts at humor. It's neither. It's simply a rather bleak look at what lies ahead (that sounds dark and depressing...I need to find better words to write these things with. I'm actually just typing away. My fingers are sort of possessed right now. The phone just rang, but I'm in such a rhythm now that if I stop, I might hit a writer's block.)

Whew. The ENTER button is certainly a nice break from the constant clicking of these letter keys.

I'm listening to Footloose now. It's definately a cheesy '80s musical. The only thing that kind of worries me is that it's written by the same guy who wrote Carrie: the Musical...and we all know how that ended (if you don't, look it up. I don't feel like talking about it right now).

November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). I've registered to participate...again. I tried last year and failed miserably. Not even 1,000 words (not that I really tried). I'll be proud if I can make it to 10,000 words this year. I figure if I keep at it, I'll have the 50,000 words in five years. Just write 10,000 words each year, and build off of that the next year. It could be great: 365 days of planning my next 10,000 words.

That's one reason why I want to keep at this blogging. I've actually considered using my blog as a source of material to use for my "novel." The rules don't say anything against it, so I might just use this for this year. I'm sure I have at least 10,000 words in this whole blog (I'll be damned if I don't have at least 20,000). I'll copy the whole thing into Word later and get a count done.

Well, I'm still in the mood for writing, but I need to take a little break. I'll see what I can do tomorrow. Later, I'll try to post the word count for this blog. It'll be interesting to see what the number is.
